November is National Diabetes Month and guest Dr. Angela Thompson is joining NP Pulse to discuss all things related to diabetes and diabetes care. For the last 22 years, Thompson has worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the care of both adolescents and adults with diabetes. In this episode, she outlines positive developments in diabetes treatment, discusses the difference between working with adult and adolescent populations and offers advice on how to distinguish diabetes facts from fiction.

Join host Dr. Sophia Thomas and AANP Fellow Barbara Dehn, who is known worldwide as “Nurse Barb,” as they discuss menopause and sexual health. This podcast will help you address several important questions that your patients may be hesitant to ask. Dehn discusses what patients may experience during menopause, and when they may begin noticing these changes. Hear why it is important for patients to discuss their sexual health with their health care providers. Discover how NPs can broach these subjects with patients and help minimize harmful stigmas related to sex and aging.
NPs interested in learning even more about menopause are invited to visit the AANP CE Center and complete “Exhausted at Menopause: Recognition and Treatment Options,” which is presented by Dehn. Another resource is AANP’s Women’s Health Community, where AANP members can join for $20 annually and exchange knowledge, engage in discussions and much more.

A comprehensive report detailing the findings related to NP compensation has just been released! In this conversation, DeSimone recounts what it was like to graduate from one of the first NP programs at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and then walks us through her career as an NP and in academia. You will learn what goes into editing and producing a successful scholarly journal, and you’ll hear about JAANP’s newest column, “From My Perspective.”
